Bangladesh Textile Mills Corporation (BTMC) officially handed over the land site to Orion Quaderia Textiles Ltd., a sister concern of Orion on December 1, 2019. The land is consisted of 21.5 acres in Tongi, Gazipur. Orion signed an agreement with BTMC under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) on July 21, 2019 with the aim to take our RMG industry to the next level advancement in Bangladesh. Brigadier General Muhammad Kamruzzaman, Chairman, BTMC handed over the land in this auspicious occasion. Orion is set to establish a state-of-the-art Denim complex along with washing and extended RMG units on the land in Gazipur

Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL), a government owned development financial institution involved in private sector energy and infrastructure financing in Bangladesh, has recently signed a mandate with Energon Renewables (BD) Limited, an approaching concern of Orion, to raise syndicated term loan facility for establishment of a 100 MW (AC) solar park at Bora Durgapur, Mongla, Bagerhat. The plant will be established on BOO basis under a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement with Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB). It is expected to achieve commercial operation by August 2020. IDCOL, the largest energy and infrastructure financier of the country, has already financed power projects supplying more than 2000 MW to the national grid. IDCOL looks forward to investing additional USD 1 billion by 2021 for development of priority infrastructure projects in Bangladesh.

Orion is the proud Concessionaire of the Mayor Mohammad Hanif Flyover; the largest flyover in Bangladesh, with a length of 11.80 kilometers connecting thirty (30) districts with the capital. The flyover is functioning twenty four (24) hours round the clock without any interruption. This project is also an ideal role model of a successful PPP (Public Private Partnership) Project in Bangladesh.On Tuesday, 24th September 2019, representatives from the Ministry of land, Infrastructure, Transportation and Tourism (MILT) of Japan, representative from the Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh, PPP Authority along with officials from KAJIMA Corporation Japan, paid a visit to the Mayor Mohammad Hanif Flyover Project and attended lunch hosted by Orion.The guests were welcomed by the VP, Corporate Affairs, VP, Project, AVP, Toll Operations cordially. To make the event fruitful an ephemeral presentation was given by the AVP, Toll operations focusing on the construction methodology, challenges faced during the construction period and the current operational and maintenance activities. A fruitful discussion took place after the presentation. Afterwards the guests paid a visit to Plaza-3 (Kutubkhali) to get the practical idea of the operational procedure.The guests were truly impressed with the construction procedure of the project and appreciated to see the operational and maintenance procedure and the challenges that were overcome wisely during the construction period. They considered this project as a role model of a successful PPP Project.

In continuation of Orion’s involvement in Textile & Garments sector, Orion has extended another footstep into denim industry. Bangladesh is leading the global denim export markets by grabbing maximum market and securing a double-digit growth. Orion will establish a state-of-the-art Denim complex alongwith washing and extended RMG units on a ready land in Gazipur, Tongi through PPP. Orion Quaderia Textiles Ltd. recently grabbed a Letter of Award (LOA) from BTMC for the ‘Development of a Textile Mill at Tongi (Quaderia), Gazipur, Bangladesh through PPP’. To mark this success, Orion Quaderia Textiles Ltd. formally signed a PPP Contract with Bangladesh Textile Mills Corporation (BTMC) and on Sunday, July 21, 2019. The ceremony was hosted by ORION at Utshab Hall, Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden Hotel with Mr. Golam Dastagir Gazi (Bir Protik), MP, Hon’ble Minister, Ministry of Textiles & Jute as the Chief Guest. Mr. Mirza Azam, MP, Chairman for Parliamentary Standing Committee, Ministry of Textiles and Jute, Mr. Md. Abul Kalam Azad, Principal Coordinator, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Affairs, Prime Minister’s Office and Mrs. Rina Parveen, Secretary (Interim Charge), Ministry of Textiles & Jute attended as the Special Guests in this auspicious occasion. Mr. Salman Obaidul Karim, Managing Director of Orion Quaderia Textiles Ltd. and Brig. General Mohammad Karmuzzaman, Chairman of BTMC signed the agreement respectively on their behalf. Mr. Salman Obaidul Karim, Managing Director of Orion Quaderia Textiles Ltd. expressed his utmost gratitude towards the Honorable Prime Minister to uplift PPP as ‘role model’ globally. The construction of this landmark project will be started soon after handover of the land by BTMC and will come to production in 2 year’s time.
