Continuing its involvement in the Textile and Garments sector, ORION has taken another significant step by entering the denim industry. Bangladesh has emerged as a leading player in the global denim export market, capturing a significant market share and achieving double-digit growth. To contribute to this growing industry, ORION plans to establish a state-of-the-art denim complex, including washing and extended RMG units, on prepared land in Tongi, Gazipur, under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiative. Recently, Orion Quaderia Textiles Ltd. received a Letter of Award (LOA) from the Bangladesh Textile Mills Corporation (BTMC) for the project titled “Development of a Textile Mill at Tongi (Quaderia), Gazipur, Bangladesh through PPP.” To mark this milestone, Orion Quaderia Textiles Ltd. formally signed a PPP contract with BTMC on Sunday, July 21, 2019. The ceremony was hosted by ORION at Utshab Hall, Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden Hotel. The event was graced by Mr. Golam Dastagir Gazi (Bir Protik), MP, Honorable Minister of the Ministry of Textiles & Jute, as the Chief Guest. Mr. Mirza Azam, MP, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Textiles & Jute; Mr. Md. Abul Kalam Azad, Principal Coordinator (SDG Affairs) at the Prime Minister’s Office; and Mrs. Rina Parveen, Secretary (Interim Charge) of the Ministry of Textiles & Jute, attended as Special Guests. The agreement was signed by Mr. Salman Obaidul Karim, Managing Director of Orion Quaderia Textiles Ltd., and Brig. General Mohammad Karmuzzaman, Chairman of BTMC, on behalf of their respective organizations. During the event, Mr. Salman Obaidul Karim expressed his sincere gratitude to the Honorable Prime Minister for promoting the PPP model as a global role model for development. Construction of this landmark project will begin soon after the land is formally handed over by BTMC, with production expected to commence within two years.

On Saturday, April 27, 2019, renowned model and actress Jaya Ahsan signed an agreement with Orion Footwear Limited (OFL) as its brand ambassador. Under the agreement, Jaya Ahsan will participate in various promotional and marketing activities for Orion Footwear Limited. The agreement was signed in the presence of Mr. Salman Obaidul Karim, Managing Director of ORION; Mr. Ruhul Amin Molla, CEO of Orion Footwear Limited; Mr. Ferdous Jaman, Company Secretary; and other officials of the organization. The signing ceremony took place at Orion House, the corporate headquarters of ORION.

An agreement was signed between Orion Power Sonargaon Ltd., Cargill Financial Services International Inc., USA, and Janata Bank Limited regarding a financial loan to support Orion Power Sonargaon Ltd.’s 104 MW HFO-based power project being implemented at Meghnaghat, Narayanganj. The signing ceremony took place at the Corporate Office of ORION at Orion House, Dhaka, Bangladesh, on March 12, 2019. Ms. Oh Hwee Chin, Regional Manager, Transaction Management (Trade & Capital Markets) of Cargill Singapore; Mr. Enam Hoque, General Manager of Janata Bank Limited; and Mr. Salman Obaidul Karim, Managing Director of ORION, signed the agreements on behalf of their respective organizations. Mr. Mohammad Obaidul Karim, Honorable Chairman of ORION, along with senior officials from ORION, attended the event. Representatives from the participating organizations were also present, including Mr. Rajneesh Garga of Cargill Financial Services International Inc., and senior officials from Janata Bank Limited such as Mr. Md. Enamul Hoque, General Manager; Mr. Md. Mustafizur Rahman, Deputy General Manager; and Mr. Abul Bashar Md. Abdul Hannan, Deputy General Manager. Through this agreement, Cargill Financial Services International Inc. will provide a substantial loan facility to Orion Power Sonargaon Ltd. through Janata Bank Limited.

"Assertive Communication Bitesize Session," a special workshop organized in observance of International Women’s Day, was held by ORION for its female executives on Thursday, March 7, 2019. The 90-minute session was conducted complimentary by the British Council. The esteemed guest speaker, Ms. Fatima Chowdhury, Senior Trainer at the British Council, facilitated the workshop. It was an interactive session with enthusiastic participation from 20 female members of the ORION family. We cordially thank the British Council for offering such a wonderful event for our employees and look forward to organizing more sessions like this in the future.
