Zareen Karim
Managing Director
Ms. Zareen Karim is one of the Managing Directors of ORION, overseeing the Group’s Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare, Footwear businesses and others. She is the daughter of Mr. Mohammad Obaidul Karim, Founder Chairman of ORION, and Mrs. Arzuda Karim, Founder Director of ORION. After completing her MBA in 2007, Ms. Zareen joined ORION as a Member of the Board.
Ms. Zareen Karim plays a pivotal role in strengthening ORION’s Pharmaceuticals and Healthcare portfolio through her professionalism, strategic insight, and creativity. Orion Pharma PLC currently offers generic medicines under 126 brands with 231 presentations, covering a wide range of formulations and dosage forms including cephalosporins, injectables. As of December 2025, Orion Pharma has established a strong export footprint across 19 countries, with continued expansion underway. Beyond her involvement in overall operations, management, and strategic decision-making, Ms. Zareen is actively engaged in Product Management, Production, Quality Assurance, International Marketing and Branding, ensuring excellence across the value chain.
With her strategic direction, Orion Pharma Park has been established as one of the largest and most advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities in Bangladesh, located at Siddhirganj, Narayanganj. This state-of-the-art facility has been developed in compliance with leading global regulatory standards, including USFDA, UKMHRA, Health Canada, and Australian TGA. In addition to conventional pharmaceutical products, the facilities will incorporate advanced technologies for manufacturing biological products (including probiotics and hormones), and anti-cancer drugs.
Ms. Zareen Karim also serves as the Chairperson of ORION’s Media Wing, Horizon Media and Publication Ltd., the publisher of the widely read national daily-The Business Standard (TBS), which reaches approximately 6 million online readers per month.
In recognition of her contributions as one of the country’s dynamic Chief Executives in the pharmaceutical industry, she has been featured in several international business publications, including CEO Magazine (Australia, 2022), Entrepreneur Insights (India, Special Edition January 2024), and Forbes India – 100 to Watch (October 2025).
Ms. Zareen Karim has been also serving as the Honorary Consul of the Commonwealth of Dominica in Bangladesh since her official appointment by the Government of Dominica in 2023.
