Lt. Gen. Sabbir Ahmed (retd.) born in 1959, has been the Executive Director of Orion Home Appliances Ltd. since January 2018. In January 2018, he joined ORION as the Executive Director with the responsibilities of Orion Gas Ltd (OGL) and Orion Home Appliances Ltd. (OHAL).

As the Executive Director of OGL & OHAL, he leads factory operations, procurement & logistics, business strategy, sales & marketing, finance, human resources, administration, management of distributors and retailers, research and development, brand management, and corporate communication.

Upon his vibrant leadership, the marketing and distribution of OGL was inaugurated in 2018 and grabbed a considerable position in the market. As the business volumes of OHAL & OGL expanded vigorously, he has been dedicatedly assigned to the responsibility of OHAL since February 2024.

Before he joined ORION, Mr. Sabbir Ahmed had served in the Bangladesh Army for almost 35 years and retired in February 2017.

Progressing from Second Lieutenant to Lieutenant General had allowed him to gather experience in Team Member, Staff, Instructor Command, and Management. His notable positions were: ADC to the Hon'ble President, Instructor in School of Infantry and Tactics, Director of Military Training Directorate, Brigade Commander of Infantry Brigade, and General Officer Commanding (GOC) of two Infantry Divisions. He had retired from the position of Chief of General Staff, Bangladesh Army where he was the 'Organizational Lead' on Training, Operations, Intelligence, Peacekeeping and Public Relations.

Mr. Sabbir reports to the Managing Director on overall operational and functional activities of OHAL.

Mr. Sabbir completed his Masters of Defense and Strategic Studies from the National Defense University of Pakistan in 2010, graduated, and was awarded the decoration of “PSC” in 1993 from the Defense Services Command and Staff College, Mirpur, Bangladesh. He completed B.Sc. in Mathematics from the University of Chittagong by achieving First Class First with distinction.

His key achievements during his charismatic career are exemplified by prestigious awards namely, Sword of Honor and Academic Gold Medal in Bangladesh Military Academy, Sena Bahini Padak, Oshamanno Seba Padak, and Sena Gourab Padak for outstanding contribution to operational activities of Bangladesh Army. Furthermore, he is the recipient of UN Medal for service in UNMEE and UNTAES and Bravery Medals from the Bangladesh Army namely, “DABANOL” and “UTTORAN” for his vital role in Counter Insurgency Operations.

Since he joined Orion Home Appliance Ltd. (OHAL), ORION has earned significant popularity as a home appliance brand in the country and sales volume of OHAL significantly boosted under his leadership.

Mr. Ruhul Amin joined Orion Pharma PLC as Executive Director in July 2020, bringing over three decades of distinguished experience in the field of pharmaceutical regulation and administration. His exceptional leadership, extensive regulatory expertise, and strategic vision have made him a key driving force behind Orion Pharma’s continued growth, operational excellence, and commitment to quality.

Before joining ORION, Mr. Ruhul Amin had a highly accomplished career at the Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in strengthening the country’s drug regulatory framework, ensuring the safety, quality, and efficacy of medicines available in Bangladesh. His dedication and outstanding performance led him to rise to the prestigious position of Director, DGDA. Throughout his professional journey, Mr. Ruhul Amin has been actively involved in various initiatives aimed at strengthening the regulatory framework of Bangladesh’s pharmaceutical industry. His leadership contributed significantly to aligning local regulatory practices with international standards such as WHO Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), ICH, UKMHRA & USFDA guidelines, thereby enhancing Bangladesh’s reputation as a reliable global supplier of quality pharmaceutical products. Mr. Amin holds both a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm) and a Master of Pharmacy (M. Pharm) degree from the University of Dhaka, one of the country’s most esteemed academic institutions. His solid academic foundation and vast practical experience have equipped him with a rare blend of scientific understanding and policy-making acumen, enabling him to lead with both precision and foresight.

Since joining Orion Pharma, Mr. Amin has been deeply involved in guiding the company’s strategic direction in areas such as regulatory compliance, product development, quality control, quality assurance, quality management system, and sustainable business development. His leadership continues to reinforce ORION’s unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, innovation, and excellence in healthcare. Major General Md. Zahirul Islam, BSP, SGP, ndc, psc (retd.) served in the Bangladesh Army more than 35 years. In his illustrious career he has attended several professional courses at home and abroad. He is a graduate from Defence Services Command and Staff College, Mirpur and a proud alumnus of National Defence College. The General holds two Masters Degrees i.e, Master of Defense Studies (MDS) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Bachelor of Law (LLB).

In his diverse career, Major General Zahir has rich experience of serving in different Command, Staff and Instructional appointments. He commanded an Infantry Unit and an Infantry Brigade; at the same time he was the General Officer Commanding (GOC) and Area Commander, Logistics Area, Dhaka Cantonment. Other notable appointments were Senior Directing Staff National Defence College (NDC), DG (Intelligence) Armed Forces Division, Prime Minister Office, Colonel General Staff DGFI, Dean Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), Station Commander, Jessore Cantonment and Instructor in Bangladesh Military Academy.

As Chairman, Bangladesh Tea Board, he established “Camellia Open Sky School” at Panchogarh, which offers a unique practical training program to educate tea farmers in the Northern Area of Bangladesh.

Sena Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) was developed and commissioned when he was DG Energy and Power, Sena Kalyan Sangstha (SKS). He was the Vice President of Kurmitola Golf Club and Senior Vice President of Bangladesh Golf Federation.

Major General Zahir has received two peace-time medals, i.e, Distinguished Service Medal (Bishishta Seba Padak - BSP) and Army Medal of Glory (Sena Gaurab Padak - SGP). He has been awarded with Chief of Army Staff Commendation for his commendable service and dedication to Bangladesh Army. He retired from the position of Master General of Ordnance (MGO) of Bangladesh Army where he added lot of value to the logistics and procurement of Bangladesh Army.

After Retirement as Major General from Bangladesh Army he joined ORION as Director (Operations) on February 13, 2024 with the responsibilities of Orion Gas Ltd. As the Director of Orion Gas Ltd (OGL), he made notable progress in business within a short period of time, with his charismatic leadership skills. A result-driven and energetic person who always strives to maximize company profitability and efficiency.

Mr. Md Zahirul Islam is a self-motivated resourceful person who possesses unique diplomatic skills and special knock for the business development in various sectors. The Director also has developed a research paper named “Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) a Sustainable Energy Alternative for Domestic use in Bangladesh: Prospect and Challenges.” Major General Md Zahirul Islam (Retd.) is a widely traveled person. He is also a keen golfer.
